Sisters Create New Congregation

Seven congregations of Sisters of Saint Joseph, whose Catholic sisters and lay associates total nearly 1,400, are meeting this week in Chicago to establish an entirely new congregation. Nearly 450 are expected to attend.

The new congregation will be called the Congregation of St. Joseph. The Sisters' opening ritual on the evening of Tuesday, April 10, was the reading of a proclamation from the Vatican approving the new congregation's creation. Rome officially granted its approval …

SJA Hosts Retreat for Faculty, Staff

Members of the St. Joseph's Academy faculty and staff gathered on September 1 in the Kleinpeter Activity Center at St. George for the annual faculty/staff retreat day. The event was facilitated by Sisters Pat Bergen and Kathy Sherman from La Grange, Illinois. Known as creative and enthusiastic retreat leaders, the Sisters led participants in a day of music, reflection, prayer, contemplation and group interaction.

Sisters' Gala A Success

Nearly 400 people attended the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Medaille's 12th Annual Gala, held August 26 in the St. Joseph's Academy Activity Center. Blowin' Into Town featured some of Baton Rouge's finest restaurants and caterers, live music and a silent auction.

The gala grossed close to $110,000 to help the Sisters continue their ministry of service that began in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, in 1855.

Sisters of St. Joseph agree to form a new Congregation

Cincinnati, OH -- The Sisters of St. Joseph of Medaille, and six other Sisters of St. Joseph congregations in the central United States announced today that they have agreed to form an entirely new congregation that will be called the Congregation of St. Joseph. The new congregation will become a reality in April 2007 following completion of the necessary documentation and final approval from Rome.
